You Must Learn How to Love Yourself

“I wish that I hadn’t eaten that, again.”

“I wish that I had said NO instead of saying yes, again”

“I wish that I hadn’t spent so much money.”

Why can’t I follow through and keep the promises that I have made?

What is wrong with me?

Surely, there must be something wrong with me.

Why do I do the things that I do? I’m so weak and such a failure.

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Aren’t you tired of feeling like You suck?

For years I did the very same thing, over and over and over again.

Unfortunately today, I listen to many of my clients talk down to themselves, as we are working through their own struggles.

I hear them call themselves names and say things about themselves that they would never say to their best friend or daughters.

Please listen to me, Sweet Friend, you must stop beating yourself up. The problem is not that you overindulged, and gained a few pounds.

The problem is not that you are overcommitted, and are extremely tired.

The problem is not that you overspent, and have credit card debt.

The problem is that you have convinced yourself that you aren’t worthy or good enough.

Fortunately, there is a way to overcome this negative self-talk.

You must learn how to love yourself.

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-6, the Bible gives us the perfect model for what love should look like “ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”

Lastly, let me leave you with one final question,

Do you struggle with being patient, kind, and loving to yourself?

I can help you.
