Going Going Gone...

Going Going Gone

Last week I moved my oldest daughter (Mattie) to Alabama.

She is going to start her new career.

Today I fly to Texas to move Emily, my youngest, into her dorm.

She is also starting a new chapter in her life.

I am excited for my girls; they are strong, courageous, and know what they want.

I am also a little sad.

I will miss hearing the sound of their laughter.

I will miss having Sunday night dinner with them.

I will miss our late-night conversations.

Weeks ago, I asked myself how I wanted to show up during the move.

I decided on purpose what my thoughts would be regarding the change.

"Nothing has gone wrong."

"This is normal."

"They are ready."

"I am excited for their furture."

I know if I dont take the time to think all of this through, I will be a hot mess. I will be reactive and not responsive.

This is the very definition of self-care and self-love.

I am taking the time to discover what feelings I am experiencing.

I am deciding what I want to think, feel and do ahead of time.

I know that I can show up and be the best version of myself and be loving, kind, and supportive to those around me better if I take care of my emotional needs first.

I have to take care of myself because if I don't, history will repeat itself.

I will be blindsided by fear, overwhelm, and anxiety.

I will have a meltdown.

Leaving me emotionally exhausted and like I have been run over by a train.

No one teaches us how to practice self-care and self-love.

Most of us think we dont have the time to take care of ourselves.

Many of us think it is selfish.

Women come to me burnt-out, overwhelmed, bitter, and resentful.

I teach them to care for themselves in a balanced, loving way.

Are you missing the skills you need to create the close, loving relationships you want?

At the end of the day, we all want to be better moms, daughters, and wives and experience more peace, love, and joy.

However, most of us are missing the skills to make this a reality.
